Dear Advantage Database Partners and Customers:

On October 26, 2005 the acquisition of Extended Systems Inc. by Sybase, Inc. was successfully completed. Extended Systems is now a member of iAnywhere Solutions, Inc. a Sybase subsidiary. Since the first announcement of this process in late-July, many of you have inquired about the future plans for Advantage Database. I would like to take this opportunity to provide more details regarding the acquisition and our long-term plans.

We are very excited about the opportunities for Advantage. Your current sales, customer service and technical service contacts are still available to assist you as in the past. We expect no changes in day-to-day interaction with our customer relationships, contact methods, or order fulfillment. Please continue to contact and communicate with us as you have in the past. In addition, Advantage Database Server 8.0 is nearing completion- we're building final installs as this is being written- and will be publicly announced soon. Following Advantage 8.0 we will start design and development for Advantage 8.1, which is currently scheduled for release in early summer 2006.

What can you expect over the long-term? Advantage will now become part of a comprehensive suite of data management, data synchronization and developer tools known as SQL Anywhere. Over the next 2 years, our plan is to offer more technology, product and service options to our partners and customers. You can also expect to see a stronger marketing presence as we leverage the marketing programs and brand image of Sybase and iAnywhere.

Each of these have been objectives of the Advantage team for many years and I'm excited that we will now have the resources and focus to make them happen.

During the acquisition process, the importance of the Advantage business and the relationships we have built with our partners and customers was immediately apparent. It is the quality of these relationships with our partners and customers that have made Advantage the success it is today.

Those of us on the Advantage Database team are excited to move forward into the next phase of our business and are pleased to have you joining us.
